AB 5 (Zbur): A Safe and Supportive School Act for LGBTQ+ Students

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the need to create safe and inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ students in schools. California, known for its progressive stance on LGBTQ+ rights, took a significant step forward by enacting AB 5: The Safe and Supportive Schools Act (Zbur) law (California Legislative Information, 2020). This legislation, signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom, aims to ensure the safety, well-being, and academic success of LGBTQ+ students across the state (Office of Assemblymember Todd Gloria, 2020).
