  • The California Department of Health Care Services has announced that the Breining Institute is no longer a state-approved organization for alcohol and drug abuse counselors.   • Rogers Memorial Hospital has expanded its dual-diagnosis services to include psychiatric disorders including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and psychological trauma.   • SAMHSA has announced their 2015–2018 plan to increase awareness of substance abuse and mental health disorders, address prevention, increase access to treatment, and promote emotional health and wellness.   • “24 Hours of Hope” is an online mental health awareness event that will be held on October 10—World Mental Health Day—by Rick and Kay Warren of Saddleback Church and over thirty speakers including Drs.   • The 2014 Joseph L. Galletta “Spirit of Recovery” Award has been given to Nancy Waite-O’Brien, PhD, of Wind Horse Crossing, Inc. Dr. Waite-O’Brien is the former vice president of clinical services at the Betty Ford Center and the founding member of Shaky Acres, a halfway house in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
