Texas Cracks Down on Prescription Drug Abuse

Share
blog
Lawmakers in Texas have proposed a bill that would make “doctor shopping” for prescription medications much harder for patients.

The new legislation dictates that doctors monitor databases that “will keep track of patients who make appointments with multiple physicians,” which will make it much harder to abuse substances (McCluskey, 2015). The legislation will also provide incentives for doctors who use the monitoring database.

According to the Associated Press, Texas lawmakers agree that Texas should share the database with other states (2015).
