The US Senate recently passed the Designer Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2014, a bill that would make anabolic steroids a controlled substance.
This bill allows more anabolic steroids to be under DEA regulation. As a result, approximately two dozen new substances will be added to the list of substances in the Controlled Substances Act and a penalty of up to $500,000 for those who falsely label anabolic steroid products (Lavitt, 2015).
A recent report by Al Jazeera stated that over ten million Americans use anabolic steroids each year and that 4 percent of abusers are adolescents (Lavitt, 2015).
