Addiction and recovery news website The Fix returned with updates and new stories on Monday, November 25, 2013. The website has been purchased out of bankruptcy by Clean and Sober Media LLC, and they are planning on reconfiguring the site and bringing back some of the old staff, as well as introducing some new staff members into the mix.
According The Fix’s press release, the team is led by Jay Levin, the new publisher and editor-in-chief. The press release states that “Levin was the founder and CEO of the Los Angeles Weekly, which won numerous journalism awards” (The Fix, 2013). In addition, the editorial staff will consist of features editor William Georgiades (previous member of The Fix’s editorial team), news editor Shawn Dwyer (senior editor at Baseline, Inc.), and senior editor Iris Berry (publisher at Punk Hostage Press).
The Fix’s feature articles, personal stories, and scientific information all center around addiction- and recovery-related issues. Judging from the “hundreds of thousands of people” who visited the website despite the lack of new and updated content, there is clearly a need for the information and for the news that The Fix presents (2013).
