Las Vegas — September 24–27, 2013

The busy U.S. Journal Training fall season gets underway September 25th at the sparkling New Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas with the 18th Annual Counseling Skills Conference (Sep 25–27, 2013). Once again, the conference will be preceded by a pre-conference workshop (Sept 24th) offering 6 hours of Ethics Training with Pamela Harmell, PhD. 

The conference is co-sponsored by The Change Companies and joining us as a participating sponsor is Central Recovery Press.

Headliners at this year’s conference include conference chair and addiction’s expert Cardwell Nuckols, PhD, and outstanding faculty includes; William Miller, PhD, noted pioneer in Motivational Interviewing; Robert Scaer, MD, brain injury and chronic pain expert; brain health specialist Daniel Amen, MD, and David Mee-Lee, MD who will discuss the new ASAM Placement Criteria.

A block of rooms at very reasonable rates have been reserved for conference participants at the New Tropicana which has undergone a $200 million transformation, and was voted best pool area in Las Vegas. The Tropicana is centrally located on the Strip, a few minutes from McCarron Airport.  

Newport Beach, California — October 9–12, 2013

The 4th Western Conference on Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders will be held October 10–12, 2013 at the Marriott Hotel and Spa in beautiful Newport Beach, California. Pamela Harmell, PhD, will conduct a 6 hour Ethics pre-conference workshop on October 9th. This year’s keynote speakers will include; Helen Fisher, PhD; Donald Meichenbaum, PhD; Shauna Shapiro, PhD; Reid Wilson, PhD; Robert Weiss, LCSW; and David Smith, MD.      

Primary topics to be addressed will include Resiliency, Mindfulness, Sex and Love Addiction, Brain Health, Integrated Treatment, Anxiety Disorders, Prescription Drug Epidemic Among Youth, Parenting, and Treating Special Populations.      

As an added treat, the first 150 Full-time conference registrants will be invited to a dinner sunset cruise on nearby Balboa Bay, courtesy of Avee Toxicology.

Delray Beach, Florida — November 7–9, 2013

From the more rugged west coast beaches of California to the warm and inviting beaches of Florida’s Atlantic coast. U.S. Journal Training completes a busy conference year with Counseling Advances: Making a Difference, to be held November 7–9, 2013 at the Marriott Beach Hotel in Delray Beach, Florida. 
 
Confirmed co-sponsors include The Refuge, American Addiction Centers, Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches and Palm Partners, the Counseling Advances conference promises to attract professionals from throughout the region and many parts of the northeast. Program and Registration Details will be posted shortly online.
