Before getting down to business, I would like to wish all our readers and conference registrants a happy and healthy belated New Year!
As you read this, U.S. Journal Training will be kicking off another busy conference year with its oldest running annual event, the 35th Training Institute on Behavioral Health and Addictive Disorders. This will take place February 10–13 in Clearwater Beach, FL.
Next, we return to Las Vegas March 19-21 for the 6th Annual Counseling Advances Conference. This year the conference will have a special focus on co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, trauma treatment, the brain and addiction, the mind-body connection, and neuroscience and psychotherapy. A six-hour preconference ethics workshop, led by Pamela Harmell, PhD, will be held on March 18.
Cosponsored by American Addiction Centers and The Meadows, this conference will include nationally-known faculty such as Joan Borysenko, PhD, Bill O’Hanlon, MS, Kenneth Minkoff, MD, Claudia Black, PhD, Pat Love, EdD, and many others.
The first of two national conferences this year on adolescents and young adults will commence April 24-26 in Las Vegas, NV (U.S. Journal Training’s second conference on adolescents and young adults is scheduled for October 15-17 in Philadelphia, PA). Key faculty for this conference includes Daniel Amen, MD, James Garbarino, PhD, Jean Kilbourne, EdD, and Jane Middelton-Moz, MS.
In addition, the faculty will also include Reid Wilson, PhD, and Lynn Lyons, LICSW, the authors of the acclaimed book Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents. Keep an eye out for the April issue of Counselor magazine, our special issue on adolescents and young adults, which will feature an exclusive interview with Reid and Lynn on their new book.
The month of May heralds a new and exciting conference in Nashville–Music City USA–titled the Trauma, Addiction, and Intimacy Disorders Conference. This will be held May 6-9 and is cohosted by The Ranch and Promises.
Headline speakers for Nashville include Bessel van der Kolk, MD, Pamela Peeke, MD, Christine Courtois, PhD, and Claudia Black, PhD. This conference will include the following evening presentations:
